ONLINE GAMBLING
PADAWAN: Police arrested a widow allegedly involved in an online gambling syndicate at a laundry premises at Mile 19, Kuching-Padawan Road on Friday.
District police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the arrest was carried out under Ops Dadu conducted by Padawan Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
The team was inspecting a laundry premises and found a 26-year-old woman inside.
“The team carried out inspections on the woman who is believed to be involved in online gambling sales activities.
“The suspect then admitted to be working as an online gambling seller,” he said in a statement.
During the inspection, the team also seized a smartphone and RM50 cash from the suspect, who has a criminal record for a similar offence.
Aidil said that the suspect, along with the seized items, was taken to the Padawan district police headquarters (IPD) for further investigation under the Common Gaming House Act 1953.
