Cops crack down on errant motorists

Kota Samarahan policemen are seen inspecting individuals in the two-day integrated crime prevention operation around the district.

KOTA SAMARAHAN: A five-hour operation that stretched into the wee hours saw police arresting three men and booking 64 motorists here.

The three men were held on suspicion of engaging in gambling and substance abuse.

In the integrated operation police mounted roadblocks  and conducted surprise checks in housing areas and shophouses in the district  from 10pm-3am on Nov 19 and 20 .

Kota Samarahan OCPD DSP Sudirman Kram said his men issued 64 summonses for various traffic offenses after inspecting 247 vehicles and 338 individuals.

“Aside from that, we also arrested two individuals under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953 and seized  RM137 and a phone used to conduct online gambling.

“Police arrested another individual under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, on suspicion of engaging in substance abuse,” he said.

He warned that such operations would continue especially in areas identified as crime hotspots in Kota Samarahan.
