Cops launch manhunt for motorcycle thief

PADAWAN: Police are on the hunt for a local man who swiftly made off with another individual’s motorcycle in a matter of seconds last Monday.

The incident came to light after a video capturing the theft and several accompanying photos went viral on Facebook on Wednesday.

Padawan deputy police chief DSP Lim Jaw Shyong said that they received a report at 10.30 pm on Monday from a 40-year-old man, reporting the disappearance of a blue Honda C100B motorcycle in front of a shop at Siburan market.

“Upon investigation, it was revealed that the suspect is a man in his 40s, standing approximately 160cm tall.

“We are actively looking for the suspect and the case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code,” he said in a statement.

Members of the public possessing any information about the incident, are urged to contact the Padawan police operations room at 082-862233.

In response to this, Lim emphasised the importance of early preventive measures, advising the public to ensure their vehicles are equipped with additional locks to deter potential thefts.
