SRI AMAN: Police are looking for a local man suspected of sexual assault on a six-year-old girl.

The suspect is identified as Andrew Jarau, 38.

Sri Aman police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said they received a report on the incident at 6.43 pm on April 10.

“The incident happened in an old cemetery area at Kampung Kubal in Betong, after which the suspect fled the scene.

“We are actively pursuing leads to locate and arrest Jarau, who is presently on the police’s wanted list.,” he said in a statement last night.

Background checks showed that the suspect has three prior drug-related records.

Mathew said the case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
