Cops on the hunt for Taman Malihah Jaya bike thieves

PADAWAN: Police are hunting for two motorcycle thieves who stole a Yamaha MT-15 motorcycle along Jalan Matang-Batu Kawa here recently.

Earlier, a 1.37-minute video clip of the incident went viral on Facebook.

In the clip, two individuals on a motorcycle stopped in front of a residence, with one of them dismounting to hot-wire the motorcycle before making a swift getaway.

Padawan police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad confirmed they have received a report regarding the stolen motorcycle, which was parked in front of a house at Taman Malihah Jaya.

“We have opened an investigation under Section 379A of the Penal Code, which carries up to one year in prison, upon conviction.

“Efforts are actively in progress to identify and locate the suspects, regardless of whether they are locals or foreigners,” he said.

He appealed to the public to promptly report any suspicious riders in their vicinity.

Abang Zainal also advised the public to install additional locks on their motorcycles and stressed the importance of vigilance when leaving their belongings unattended.

“Never leave any room for criminals to exploit.

“We welcome any information from the public to combat crime,” he added.
