Cops remanded to help probe into death of colleague

SIBU: The Magistrates’ Court today ordered three policemen to be remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations into the death of their colleague last Thursday (May 6).

Magistrate Mohd Syukri Mokhtar ordered the male suspects, aged 21, 23 and 27, all from Peninsular Malaysia to be remanded until May 14.

The deceased identified as Norhalim Tumiran, 25, from Pahang, was found dead on a sofa with gunshot wound to the right side of his head in a house at Permai Timur, here.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail when contacted, said that the three policemen were at the scene and they were detained to assist in the investigations.

“All three of them are remanded for seven days and the case will be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

“A post mortem is expected to be carried out tomorrow (May 8) and the body will be taken to Pahang once post mortem is complete,” he said today.

The deceased who was recently transferred to the Sibu Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department, is survived by a wife and a child.
