SIBU: Police arrested a couple and seized two boxes containing syabu worth more than RM150,000 behind Sibu Post Office building here last Monday (May 17).

District deputy police chief Supt Collin Babat, who confirmed the case, said the team found the suspects, both aged 32, carrying the boxes to a car by the side of Jalan Wong Nai Siong around 1pm.

“The raid was carried out following cooperation and information from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

“The boxes weighed around 4kg. It is believed to have been sent from Malaya. Its value was estimated to be around RM151,236,” he told.

Collin noted that the woman was carrying the boxes to the car, while the man was waiting in the driver’s seat.

Both suspects and the seized drug, were taken to the police station for further action.

He said the suspects will be remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
