MARUDI: Police here believe they have solved eight house break-in cases in Bakong, Lapok and Long Lama with the arrest of three local men on Thursday morning.

Marudi district police chief DSP Jo Hang said the suspects — aged 27, 36, and 53 — were detained at two separate locations in an operation held at 7.30am.

“All three suspects were picked up at two separate longhouses at Jalan Samling, Long Lama,” he said.

During a check carried out at the first location whereby two suspects were nabbed, police discovered four shotgun gauges concealed inside a pouch bag and five dismantled motorcycles.

All suspects are being investigated under Section 8 of the Firearms Act 1960 and Section 29 (1) of the Minor Offences Act 1955, which carries a maximum fine of RM1,000 or maximum jail term of one year, or both, upon conviction.
