KUCHING: Committee members and volunteers of the Semadang International Tagang Festival yesterday received essential food items donated by Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Datuk Peter Minos.
After receiving a request for donations from the committee, Minos immediately delivered the food aid to the members of the committee.
“I immediately arranged for the food aid to be sent to the recipients who are daily paid workers and have lost their income since the movement control order (MCO) was imposed.
“Those villagers were elated and happy to receive the food assistance,” said Minos.
He added that groups or individuals should come forward to help those in dire need, on top of government support.
“We cannot put everything on the government. It is so nice seeing many business groups donating to the state disaster fund.
“This is very good. God bless them all for their thoughts and kindness. This is the most opportune time for them to help those who need it,” he added.
The committee also received food items from president of Habitat for Indigenous and Urban Programme (Hidup) George Young Si Ricord Jr.
