Council conducts inspections of Sibu’s public toilets

SIBU: The Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) has conducted inspections of several public toilets under its jurisdiction as part of its efforts to upgrade the damaged facilities.

SMC Public Health Standing Community Councillor Yiing Sy Huat said that the identified damages included water pumps, lamps, and other issues.

He stated that a total of eight public toilets were inspected today.

“Among them are Sibu Gateway Public Toilet, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Hawker Stance Public Toilet, Rejang Esplanade Public Toilet at Jalan Maju, Khoo Peng Loong (Backlane), Sibu Heritage Centre, Sibu Town Square Phase II (Skate Board Park), Sibu Town Square Phase II (Lau King Howe Memorial) and Sibu Town Square Phase I, Jalan Bujang Suntong.

“The estimated total number of public toilets that will be inspected is 17 public toilets,” he said when met by reporters during inspection of Sibu Public Toilets yesterday .

Yiing emphasised that the council was committed to repairing the damaged facilities in public toilets to ensure visitors could use them comfortably.

Therefore, he called on the public to join forces with the council in its efforts to maintain all the public toilets in Sibu properly.

“I hope the people of Sibu will cooperate in keeping our public toilets clean. This is because if visitors from outside Sibu visit Sibu, ‘Toilet’ is their first impression of Sibu,” he added.
