MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC), anticipating huge volume of domestic and bulky waste in the upcoming Christmas celebration, has allocated 48 Roll-On Roll-Off (Roro) bins to housing estates.

The council said in a statement on Monday (Nov 22) the bins had been placed at 35 strategic locations to enable residents in the area to dispose their domestic waste.

These bins will be placed at Taman Tunku, Jalan Luak-Bakam Zone, Jalan Riam/Lopeng Zone,Krokop /Piasau Zone, Pujut Zone, Piasau Utara / Tudan Zone, Desa Senadin Zone, Permyjaya Zone  and Lutong / Kuala Baram Zone.

The festive cleaning campaign will start on December 3 and end on December 22, depending on the location.

The council hoped residents would utilise the provided bins and refrain from dumping rubbish indiscriminately, especially on road verges, road reserves or open spaces as it would not only become an eyesore but also create potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes and other disease-bearing insects.

For any enquiries, the public can contact the council’s office at 085-433501 or Public Cleansing and Maintenance Section (085-442411).
