KUCHING: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has lauded residents in the municipality for providing the council with feedbacks on its services.

Its chairman Lo Khere Chiang said that the residents have been keeping the council well informed on the conditions of their drains which needed clearing works.

He asserted that the council has been continuously maintaining as well as clearing the drains and rivers within its jurisdiction.

“The council works together with the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) on this whereby we will maintain the smaller drains while the bigger ones are handled by the DID.

“The council has been receiving a lot of feedbacks from the public, so we have done this day in and out,” he explained.

Lo who is also Batu Kitang assemblyman encouraged members of the public to continue keeping the council well informed on the matter.

He stated that flash flood was not an uncommon as it occurred every now and then particularly after heavy rainfall.

“The council welcomes feedbacks from the public and I encourage them to continue doing so.

“However, for the low-lying areas which are prone to flood, there is not much that can be done to prevent flood from happening.

“Nonetheless, rest assured that the council will help where we can like clearing the drains to facilitate the flow of water. If it involves big drains and rivers, we will get help from DID as well,” he said.
