Council issues notice on trading stalls

KUCHING: Kuching North City Council (DBKU) will offer trading stalls along Jalan Gambier on Oct 28 – 30 and Nov 4 – 6 in connection with the coming Dragon Boat Festival and Sarawak Regatta.

In a statement DBKU said a total of 147 sites have been prepared according to categories, namely, textiles, accessories, children’s games and others (60); food and beverage (77); food (grilled; 10 sites) and five stalls for food trucks.

“The fee charged for the period of six days is RM160 for each area measuring 10 feet x 10 feet.

“Hawkers are required to use their own tables, chairs. The sizes of canopies have been specified to ensure uniformity and proper layout of the work areas,” the statement clarified.

Sales of the stall sites will be held on Saturday (Oct 8) starting from 8.30 am at DBKU Auditorium and will be based on first come first serve basis.

Hawkers are required to bring along their documents two passport size photos, and photo copies of their identification cards (ICs).

For food and and beverages traders, they are required to bring a copy of the food Handler’s Course Certificate and a copy of the Health Examination Report along with the Anti-Typhoid vaccine (Typhoid Fever Vaccine) or a copy of the DBKU Food Handler Card.

All traders are reminded to comply with good food handling ethics in line with the requirements under the Food Act 1983, Food Hygiene Regulation 2009 and other conditions set by DBKU.

The use of styrofoam or polystyrene containers for food packaging is not allowed, and food sampling activities will also be held throughout the event to ensure that the food sold to the visitors is clean and safe.
