SRI AMAN: The Walikota of Sri Aman District Council, Richard Tawan Sedu recently met owners of buildings who had been carrying out illegal extensions at their premises for a dialogue session.

The meeting, which took place at the meeting room of the council, was also attended by the Councillors.

Richard later told the press that the building owners had been asked to demolish the illegal extensions voluntarily.

He said those who failed to do so would be charged in court under Section 10 of the Building Ordinance 1994 (Chapter 8).

He added that many shopowners in the town had extended their premises illegally without seeking the approval of the council first.

Richard advised all building owners to seek permission from the council first before carrying out any extensions.
