MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) is in the process of instituting court proceedings against those who have defaulted on their parking compounds despite constant reminders.
MCC had offered a 50 per cent discount on parking compounds in conjunction with the 17th Miri City Day, which was extended until July 31.
“Under the first phase of the court action, a total of 1,000 cases involved defaulters who have accumulated outstanding compound fees of over RM3,000,” said Miri mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang during a full council meeting on Monday (Oct 31).
“According to the MCC’s Parking Section records, as of September this year, more than RM2.7mil in compound fees remain unpaid,” he added.
