MUKAH: A couple was arrested for involvement in substance abuse at Jalan Pantai Jebungan here on Friday (Feb 25).
The raid, conducted by the district’s Narcotic Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), was carried out at an unnumbered house around 8 pm.
Mukah OCPD DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the team detained a 42-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman for inspections.
They also seized a straw tube containing a crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine.
The drugs, weighing 0.40g, were seized and brought to the police station together with the suspects.
Muhamad Rizal added that both suspects, who tested positive for drugs, had been involved in substance abuse since 2001 and 2018.
The case is being investigated under Section 12 (2) and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
