MIRI: A husband and wife were found dead with gunshot wounds to the body in the bedroom of their house in Kampung Beraya, Bekenu this morning (Sept 22).
District police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari who confirmed this, said a team of CID officers and personnel from the Bekenu police station were deployed to the scene after the bodies were discovered at around 7am.
“Investigations are underway to identify the cause and chronology of the incident,” he said when contacted today.
He said the bodies of the 60-year-old man and his 40-year-old wife of Indonesian nationality were taken to Miri Hospital to carry out autopsies.
It is learnt that the couple’s bodies were discovered by the man’s younger brother soon after hearing the cries of their young child.
A shotgun was reportedly found on the chest of the male victim.
