Covid-19 claims one more victim

KUCHING: One death due to Covid-19 has been reported in Sarawak.

The Sarawak Disaster Management (SDMC) said on Wednesday (Jan 26) that the deceased was a 64-year-man from Sri Aman.

“The deceased was brought to Sri Aman Hospital. He was also suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes and had a heart problem.”

SDMC also disclosed that 13 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Sarawak, bringing the total now to 252,732.

Miri recorded six cases, followed by Sibu (three), Kuching (two), Limbang (one) and Pusa (one). 

SDMC also said two new positive cases were reported in two different eateries in Bintulu and Miri respectively.

The first victim is from Bintulu and was confirmed positive on Jan 23. The infection was detected at the Borneo’z Restaurant Medan Sentral. 

The other victim is from Miri, and was detected at the How Kee Soy Duck, Jalan Bintang Jaya 1 on Jan 21.

SDMC also disclosed that to date, there were 761 persons under surveillance (PUI) and 164, 895 PUI cases had been discharged.

There are no new clusters or active clusters.
