Covid-19 downward trend continues

KUCHING: Sarawak’s overall COVID-19 situation is still on a downward trend despite the Hari Raya celebration and gatherings throughout the past week.

The State Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) weekly COVID-19 update showed only 256 cases of COVID-19 were registered in Sarawak between May 1-7.

This was a significant decrease of 354 cases compared to 610 weekly cases detected previously.

The committee said 244 of the 256 cases were in Categories 1 and 2, while 12 cases were in Categories 3, 4 and 5.

“Kuching recorded the highest number of cases at 52, followed by Miri (41), Sibu (37), Bintulu (31) and Serian (17).

“The rest of the cases were reported in Samarahan, Limbang, Mukah, Sri Aman, Simunjan, Bau, Betong, Sarikei, Subis, Julau, Asajaya, Matu, Lubok Antu, Saratok, Meradong, Lundu, Lawas, Dalat, Pusa, Selangau and Marudi,” it said on Monday (May 9).

Apart from that, two COVID-19 deaths were also reported in Kuching during the same period.
