Crash takes one life, injures three

SIMUNJAN: One man was killed while three others were severely injured following a lorry-car accident at Sebuyau-Simunjan Road this morning.

A spokesman from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said they received an emergency call around 8.15am.

Firemen from Simunjan and Asajaya were then despatched to the scene near Kampung Sebuyau, about 23km from Simunjan fire station.

It was reported that there were four victims in the car and three of them were trapped in their seats.

Upon arriving, the trapped victims were promptly extricated out of the vehicle. One of them, the front seat passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The victim identified as Ling Yu Seng, 21, was later handed over to the police for further action.

Meanwhile, the three other victims aged between 18 and 25, were rushed to Simunjan Hospital for immediate treatment.

Before wrapping up the operation, the team helped to clear the accident debris to ensure that the road was safe.
