KUCHING: The civil service needs to cultivate innovation and creativity comprehensively through the generation of new ideas.

In line with this, the Innovative and Creative Group Convention (KIK) was organised as one of the efforts to continue to nurture the culture of creativity and innovation to the federal civil service in Sarawak.

Sarawak Federal Secretary Datuk Amir Omar said such a convention could create a stable, innovative, creative and far-sighted work culture to improve the quality of work and effectiveness of the government agency’s service delivery system to the community.

“Aside from that, this convention also reflects the genuine aspirations of the public service’s desire to change the public service landscape.

“Throughout this convention, we have seen a number of ideas and brainstorming with elements of innovation and creativity successfully highlighted among civil servants.”

Amir was speaking at the KIK closing and prize-giving ceremony here on Tuesday (Aug 2).

He reminded the participants that the convention was not merely a competition but a mechanism that involved solving problems, improving work processes and introducing something new.

“I am confident that the combination of the various creative and innovative ideas from each of the participants here would ensure that public services continue to be relevant and in line with the needs of current services and work practices that are increasingly challenging today.

“It will definitely strengthen the country’s economy, social development and the wellbeing of the people more effectively.”
