Cricketer from Sarawak called up for national duty

KUCHING: Nur Dania Syuhada Abedul Samad has been called up for national duty as the Malaysian women’s cricket team face the 2023 Asian Zone World Cup Qualifying Round, which will take place in Kuala Lumpur from June 1 to 14.

The 17-year-old is from Kampung Tabuan Melayu here, and a student at the prestigious Bukit Jalil Sports School.

Sarawak Cricket Association president Awang Mahyan Awang Mohamed was delighted to learn that the former student of SK Tabuan Hilir had been selected to represent Malaysia.

“Well done and congratulations! I hope that Nur Dania Syuhada will give her best,” Awang Mahyan told Arena Suara Sarawak.

“She is a talented player and she will definitely be able to contribute to the national team for many years.”

Malaysia will be competing against the likes of Thailand, Myanmar, Nepal, Qatar, Bhutan and the UAE, among others.

The 2023 World Cup will take place in January in South Africa.
