Pre-university student representatives take their oath, witnessed by Mohamad Kadim, together with Unimas Board of Directors.

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Students are encouraged to equip themselves with critical and creative thinking to face the challenges ahead.

Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) vice- chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi offered this advice during the oath-taking ceremony by Pre-University Learning Centre (PPPU) students at Dewan Tunku Abdul Razak Putra (DeTAR Putra) Gallery here on Friday (Aug 6).

At the same time, he noted that 613 pre-university students for the 2019/2020 session had completed their studies while the country was still under the movement control order (MCO).

“882 pre-university students from the 2020/2021 session also completed their studies during the implementation of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

“This is proof that the commitment and responsibilities of the educators and students are high in the success of virtual learning.

“We want to create not only students that excel in their academic studies, but we also want them to have abilities and skills that can be useful for them.

“This is important in the future, especially with the current job market which is volatile and very challenging.”

Prof Kadim hoped that students continuing their studies in PPPU could make history in their lives and devote themselves to the country.

Also present at the ceremony were Unimas Board of Directors chairman Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie, Unimas deputy vice-chancellor (Academic and International) Prof Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit, deputy vice-chancellor (Research and Innovation) Prof Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim and assistant vice-chancellor Prof Datu Mohd Fadzil Abdul Rahman.
