BINTULU: Croatian Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Ivan Velimir Starcevic visited the Malaysian Liquefied Natural Gas (MLNG) Plant on March 30, with the aim of exploring the possibility of importing gas for future storage and resale to European countries.

During the visit, Dr Starcevic expressed Croatia’s interest in supplying LNG to non-European Union (EU) countries, subject to an agreement with MLNG.

He said, “We (Croatia) do not want to depend too much on imports from the United States which has helped supply LNG to European countries after the war crisis between Russia and Ukraine. Right now, each EU country is making individual purchases and it is hoped that some EU countries will make bulk purchases to guarantee the future supply of LNG.”

In addition, Dr Starcevic welcomed the decision by Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) to open offices in any EU country, particularly Croatia, as a means of strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries.
