KUCHING: Crops bought by the Kuching Area Farmer’s Association (PPK) Sri Gading Lundu and the Sarawak Agriculture Department were donated to frontline workers at the Lundu district community hall vaccination centre (PPV).

Tanjung Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu said a total of RM74,800 in allocation from the state government was used to buy the crops.

Besides the PPV staff, the crops were also given to volunteers of the Tanjung Datu service centre, the Lundu Hospital, the Sematan Health Clinic, the Sampadi Health Clinic, the Stoh Health Clinic and the Opar service centre.

“This will, to some extent, help the frontline staff of the Lundu district community hall.

“They have been on duty during the Covid-19 vaccine rollout from March until now and have helped the smooth distribution of vaccines in the Lundu district,” she said.

She said this when met after a brief ceremony to present the crops at the Lundu district office on Friday (July 16).

At the ceremony, Jamilah also presented symbolic assistance packages to the local fishermen’s association.

She presented contributions to the Social Welfare Committee members of the Lundu district office in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidiladha as well.

Jamilah also handed a Sarawak flag to be hoisted in conjunction with the Sarawak Day celebration on July 22.

The assemblywoman called on the public to continue registering for the Covid-19 vaccines.

She said it was pertinent for them to take the vaccinations seriously to protect themselves, their families and the local community.
