Crucial for civil servants to possess integrity

KUCHING: State Secretary Datuk Seri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki has reminded every level of administrative leadership in the state civil service to possess high level of integrity.

He said this is essential in order to curb any issues related to corruption, abuse of power, non-transparent governance and criminal breach of trust.

Abu Bakar said this in his opening remarks at the closing ceremony of the Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) Values Through Leadership Seminar 2022 at the Waterfront Hotel here on Tuesday night.

The seminar was attended by 350 SCS officers consisting of Human Resource Officers (HROs), Certified Integrity Officers (CeIO) and senior state civil servants.

“This seminar was held to remind every civil servant about the importance of cultivating the six SCS Shared Values, especially the value of integrity of every civil servant and as a platform for civil servants to share their experiences, information and the context of effective and successful leadership.

“It is also to foster the principle of “Leadership by Example” in the SCS Workforce where it is important for leaders at every level to ensure that a high-performance work culture can be realised,” he said.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas officiated at the event.

Also present were Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom and Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya.
