Crucial to empower rural leadership

Date:

SEBUYAU: Sebuyau incumbent Datuk Julaihi Narawi has stressed the importance to equally empower rural leadership which does not only need to be enhanced but must also have an integrated and united approach.

He stated that this approach would be the collective voice that will voice out the needs or agenda of the village development to the current Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government.

“The platform or channel to voice out the needs should be appropriate so that it is heard by the government.

“That is why it is important to equally empower rural leadership in all existing local committees including leadership at the level of party components in the GPS and Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK),” he added.

He said this after officiating the rural transformation projects (RTP) involving the new futsal field and three new intersections at Kampung Entanggor on Wednesday (Nov 10).

Julaihi opined that there are other options but based on experience and observation, GPS is still the best channel in the matter.

“Therefore, let us defend GPS as the state government in the 12th state election as GPS already has an organised and available rural development policy and agenda that is being implemented and will be implemented in the near future.

“For areas in Sebuyau and the entire rural areas in Sarawak, they will benefit from these policies and agendas when GPS continues to be given the mandate,” he added.

Meanwhile, commenting on the futsal field, Julaihi said that the field was approved under his RTP allocation and that its completion was eagerly awaited by the residents in the area.

“The field is located next to the community hall which is very appropriate.

“In light of this, I also inaugurated the three new intersections leading to the area of private houses which were built separately from the old longhouses while the other junction leads towards St Andrew’s primary school primary community hall,” he stated.

On another note, he added that Kampung Entanggor already has an access road from the junction of coastal roads on the route to the town of Sebuyau for several years now.
