Crypto mining premises raided

SIBU: The police and Sarawak Electricity supply corporation (SESCO) have raided a crypto mining premise for meter tampering here.

Sibu Police Chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili in a statement yesterday (August 11) said that the operation was conducted at a house at Jalan Lorong Setia 3, Sibu here at 12.30 pm yesterday.

“A total of 10 crypto mining machines worth around RM13,500 were seized, and the total loss from the suspected stolen electricity was estimated at around RM201,129.10,” he said.

The case is being investigated under section 379/427 of the Penal Code.

On August 10, another joint operation between police and SESCO raided a suspected illegal crypto mining premise that had incurred losses from stolen electricity worth almost half a million ringgit.

A total of 34 crypto mining machines worth around RM38,000 were seized from the raid, and the total loss from the suspected stolen electricity was estimated at around RM496,000 during the operation at Jalan Serai, here.

The case was also investigated under Section 379/427 of the Penal Code.
