KUCHING: The Congress of Union of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) Sarawak has thrown its support behind national Cuepacs president Adnan Mat, who called for the review of the Malaysian Remuneration System (SSM).

“Cuepacs Sarawak believes that it is a high time for the review as it is a long-standing issue.

“Since the Prime Minister is a people-oriented leader and is concerned about the difficulties faced by the people, Cuepacs Sarawak would like to urge him to sympathise with civil servants who wished for the SSM to be reviewed and implemented immediately,” said Cuepacs Sarawak chairman Ahmad Malie on Monday (April 12).

Cuepacs Sarawak asserted that this issue had been around for a long time and those in the civil service could only hope for a review to materialise.

“What is sad is that a lot of them, who have retired, were not able to enjoy the benefits from the SSM.

“By taking into account the current economic outlook, Cuepacs Sarawak hopes that the government under the leadership of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will consider the call to review the SSM for the benefit of all civil servants.”
