KUCHING: Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) Sarawak welcomes the third package of Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 3.0 which involves incentives for frontliners.

Cuepacs Sarawak president Ahmad Malie said the extension of the special incentive for frontline personnel proved that the state government under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) was very concerned over those manning the front line amidst the Covid-19 crisis.

“Apart from proving their recognition towards frontline personnel, the incentive is also a token of appreciation by the state government for their sacrifices in the effort to break the Covid-19 transmission,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

On Friday, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg announced the extension of the RM200 per month for six months to frontline personnel who are directly exposed to risks while performing their duty in managing the outbreak in Sarawak.

The frontliners comprised of 870 local authorities’ personnel, 358 personnel of the Royal Malaysian Customs, 887 of the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) and 500 of the state Civil Defence Force (APM).
