MIRI: A 1500mm diameter culvert is being installed at the Saberkas Roundabout here to prevent flash floods.

The project commenced on February 23 this year and is expected to be ready by May 31.

This was disclosed by  Transport Minister, Datuk Lee Kim Shin this afternoon after he visited the Pujut Roundabout.

Lee was accompanied by divisional engineer Public Works Department (PWD), Chong Chi Fam.

“Besides installing the culvert, the contractor is also upgrading the road side drain,” added the minister.

The RM1.4 million project is funded by the federal government.

During the period of the construction, Lee has also advised road users to exercise extra care while passing by the area.
