MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia recently presented Best Project Awards to three teams of students for their Capstone Computing Projects (CCP).

CCPs are undertaken by computing students as their final year projects, giving them the opportunity to execute software engineering projects in consultation with members of the academic staff, industry partners and designated clients.

Awards are presented to the best teams at the end of each semester.

In the latest Semester 2 round, 30 students presented their project outcomes and 11 students in the three teams were awarded for presenting the most outstanding projects.

Present at the awards ceremony were Head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Associate Professor Ling Huo Chong, and lecturer in electrical and computer engineering Dr Saaveethya Sivakumar, who coordinates and supervises the CCPs at Curtin.

CCP projects typically involve the design, implementation and testing of software systems and the students work in teams to execute the project objectives.

Management activities are also undertaken to give them the opportunity to develop project management skills.

CCPs are conducted over two semesters. In the first semester, students identify and develop project proposals, then work towards developing their software prototypes in the second semester.

Curtin Malaysia offers Curtin University’s three-year Bachelor of Computing with majors in Cyber Security and Software Engineering. To find out more about the programme, visit courses.curtin.edu.my.
