SERIAN: A man, 35, who was cutting tree branches at his village on Saturday, was fatally crushed by a falling branch.
His lifeless body remained stuck underneath the fallen branch that crushed him on top of the tree.
The freak fatal accident on top of the tree occurred around 3.15pm at Kampung Engkelumai, along the Serian-Balai Ringin road stretch.
Firemen from Serian fire station were promptly despatched to the scene after receiving a special service call from the police to bring the victim down.
It was also reported that the location of the accident was about 30km away from the fire station.
Upon arrival, the team proceeded to bring the body down with the help of an excavator belonging to the villagers to remove the branch that crushed the victim.
Identified as Abang Sudi, the deceased was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
His remains were later handed over to the police for further action. The special service operation ended at 5.30pm on the same day.
