KUCHING: Miri City mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang has announced that all markets and tamu (farmers’ market) under the jurisdiction of Miri City Council (MCC) will be sanitised daily.

“This is an additional safety measure to safeguard the traders and the general public, namely the market and tamu patrons during the current Covid-19 outbreak.

“Regular general cleaning and maintenance works will still be carried out as usual,” he said in a statement today.

At the same time, he reminded stall operators and the public not to take lightly the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of practising safe hygiene – such as hand-washing, social distancing, and the use of face masks.

Yii said they should continue to undergo body temperature screening and check-in before entering the markets and tamu.
