MIRI: After months of hiding from the law, the third suspect in the Taman Tunku shooting case has finally been caught.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah confirmed yesterday’s arrest, saying, “The suspect, aged 37, known as Ng Cheng Hui or ‘Pui Kow’ (fat dog in the Hokkien dialect) was detained by a CID team at 5.15am this morning at a house in Pujut Corner.”

Police also arrested his 22-year-old wife.

They also seized a samurai sword and a substance believed to be syabu weighing more than 530g.

“We also confiscated a digital weighing machine and several cellphones,” added ACP Lim.

On May 16, three masked men armed with guns, crashed a car into the gate of a house in a robbery attempt at Jalan Pahlawan 3, Taman Jelita, Taman Tunku.

They held a family of four, including a maid and a boy aged four, for nearly 30 minutes before a mobile police vehicle (MPV) arrived at the scene at 1.30pm.
