KUCHING: DAP, not GPS, embraces politics of race, said  Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Youth chief Robert Ayu. “The party’s (DAP) leaders often issue racial statements…the whole of Malaysia can see this clearly,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Robert likened Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen’s statement to the Malay proverb ibarat meludah ke langit, terkena muka sendiri (if you spit in the air, it will hit you in the face).

He cited such examples as when Chong agreed with Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming when the latter said that Umno and PAS would form a Taliban government if they win the general
election.

“Finance Minister and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng also stoked the racist flame by saying that the Umno-PAS pact would deprive non-Muslims of their rights.

“Mengkibol assemblyman Chew Chong Sin also tried to compare the Christchurch mass shooting to that of Malay unity which further fuelled religious prejudice among non-Muslims and non-Malays,” said Robert.

He also slammed Chong for defending the controversial comic book that promoted the ideology of communism and socialism, which he believed to be DAP showing its true colours.

“This means that DAP has no regard for the sensitivities of Malaysians as the Home Ministry has confirmed that the comic had underlying motives which can disunite the people.”

Robert stressed that Sarawak had no need for the party leadership to set foot in the state.

“The unity that has been fostered from our grandparents is valuable and we will fight to ensure that harmony remains for our children and grandchildren to enjoy,” he added.
