KUCHING: Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2021 candidates who have scored straight As can now apply for the 2021 SPM Excellence Award Scheme.

The scheme, initiated by Bandar Kuching Parliamentary Constituency Service Centre and Stampin Parliamentary Constituency Service Centre will give reward of RM200 for candidates who obtained 6As in their SPM, 7As (RM300), 8As (RM500), 9As (RM600), and 10As (RM700).

Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen when announcing the scheme, said the award is an initiative by Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii and his office to reward SPM candidates who have achieved good results.

“The allocation is from our constituency allocations respectively and the reward is to congratulate the students for their excellence as well as to encourage them to continue to work hard to achieve even greater heights.

“Therefore, we welcome all eligible candidates from the constituency who fulfill all required criteria to apply,” he said when officiating at the launch of the Education Fair organised by Malaysia Dynamic Community Association at Boulevard Shopping Mall on Sunday (June 26).

He added the requirement for the application is that candidates must be residing in the Bandar Kuching or Stampin Parliamentary constituency and from a secondary school situated either in the Bandar Kuching or Stampin Parliamentary constituency.

As for candidates who have scored 11As and 12As in their SPM they will be given the same reward, Chong said, adding they are also welcome to apply for the reward.

“There is no limit on the number of applicants, and it does not matter whether they are rich or poor.

“The reward is a form of encouragement to acknowledge their good efforts in scoring the good results,” he said.

Meanwhile, candidates who qualify can apply by filling up the Google Form online, and upload a clear image of their identity card (IC) and an image of this year’s SPM results before submitting.

The link to the spreadsheet can be found on Chong’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ChongChiengJen; Dr Yii’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/DrKelvinYii; or at DAP Sarawak’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/DapSarawakOfficial.

The application period is from now until July 31, 2022, and late applications will not be accepted.

The date and place of distribution of rewards will be notified separately after the application is closed.

For any inquiries, candidates may contact or visit offices of Bandar Kuching Parliamentary Constituency Service Centre and Stampin Parliamentary Constituency Service Centre.
