KUCHING: The Democratic Action Party Socialist Youth (DAPSY) can be the vehicle to build the next democratic wave in Malaysia, said Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii.

He said that under the current situation, Malaysia was facing a crisis of confidence and many people were losing hope.

“Yet, apathy is not the answer. We can’t bury our heads in the ground hoping everything will turn out fine. We might try to ignore it, but politics affect our daily lives,” he said in Facebook post yesterday (Mar 16).

He said Malaysian youth had demonstrated their ability through political activism such as Undi18, TangkapAzamBaki and UndiJohor.

“Evidently, there is still a huge untapped potential.

“That is why renewal starts with the youth. Young Malaysians will be the bridge that connects disparate groups, energising them into a potent and cohesive force to build a better future,” he added.

Dr Kelvin opined that the answer to bad politics was not no politics, but good politics.

“That is where we strongly believe that DAPSY can be that vehicle to build the next democratic wave in Malaysia,” he said.

Dr Kelvin, who is contesting for the DAPSY top position in the coming DAPSY National Executive Council Committee Election 2021-2024, said that he could not achieve the vision alone without any team.

“Syefura Othman, candidate for deputy chief and I are not superheroes. We cannot do this alone. That is why we are committed to building a cohesive team to achieve this vision together as we unite and strengthen DAPSY all over the country.

“We therefore humbly offer our candidacy to serve as your DAPSY chief and deputy chief as we unite to build our generation together,” he said.
