DARO: The ten-day Daro Festival has turned out to be a roaring success with some traders reporting sales to a tune of RM4,000 each day.

Daro Assemblyman Safiee Ahmad who said this projected that it could have possibly generated RM1 million for the local economy.

And he expects the outcome to get even better with the completion of the Batang Paloh Bridge Project, Lassa Bridge, Igan Bridge and other surrounding bridges.

“The festival will be more lively in the future and will be the focus of many from all over Sarawak.,” he predicted at the closing of the festival on Yesterday (Aug 14).

“Even though the ferry service is still used by the community, it was observed that they are willing to wait and line up at the ferry point to go to the Daro Festival.

“If all the ferry services are gone later and everyone uses the bridges then it will be easy for people to come to Daro.
