KUCHING: The first group of households from two villages will be moving to the Darul Hana resettlement scheme on August 1.

Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication II Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said it will involve residents from Kampung Panglima Seman and Kampung Semarang, at Seberang Hilir.

“There are 80 per cent of the applicants from these two villages have agreed and the first group will move on August 1.

“The other 20 per cent haven’t made their decision to move to the resettlement due to other problems such as land ownership and other factors,” he said.

Abdul Rahman who is Pantai Damai assemblyman said this that during a tree planting programme organised by Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) and Sarawak Botany Garden on Wednesday (May 11).

Earlier last week, Abdul Rahman said other villages at Seberang Hilir who are involved in the resettlement such as Kampung Pulo Hulu, Kampung Pulo Hilir and Kampung Panglima Seman Hulu will going through the same process when phase two and three of the housing construction have been done.

He said the moving process will be done from time to time until all 13 villages fully move to Darul Hana by 2030.

On the progress to the Sentoria House, Borneo Samariang Project (BSG), which had faced delays to completion, he said his ministry is still waiting for a decision by Ministry of Local Housing and Government.

“Our ministry will be communicating with the ministry involved because recently, we’ve had the Hari Raya holidays. Let’s wait on their announcement later,” said Abdul Rahman.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Haji Openg had announced that the Sarawak government will take over the housing project in the interest of buyers.
