PADAWAN: Former Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Datuk Seri Dr James Dawos Mamit who passed away last Monday was laid to rest at St Jude Catholic cemetery in Kampung Stabut here yesterday.

Earlier, a funeral service was held at St Ann Church, 10th Mile. The service was solemnised by Rev Fr William Lee and assisted by Rev Fr William Sabang.

Besides his widow  Datin Seri Christine Dawung Narub, family members, relatives and friends, also present at the funeral service were former Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem, former Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili, who is also Kota Merudu Member of Parliament (MP), Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin and Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh.

Dawos, 70, died at his residence in Taman Stutong Indah, Tabuan Jaya after a long illness. He left behind a wife, three sons and seven grand
children to mourn his loss.

The four-term Puncak Borneo MP was appointed Deputy Minister of Tourism on Dec 14, 2009, before being appointed Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment after his victory in the 13th General Election on May 16, 2013.

The environmental scientist first won the Mambong parliamentary seat in 1999 on a BN ticket defeating Independent candidate  Dr Jerip Susil.

He was controller of the Natural Resources and Environment Board before he joined politics.
