KUCHING: The late Datuk Seri Dr James Dawos Mamit will laid to rest at St Jude Chapel, Kampung Stabut Padawan on Friday.

His eldest son, Henry, said the funeral service would be held at St Ann, Mile 10 at 10am on Friday, after which they will proceed to the burial site.

Henry confirmed that his father, the 70-year-old former Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, died at 11.30am at his residence at Taman Stutong Indah, Tabuan Jaya here on Monday after a long battle with lung infection and other side effects due to past radiotherapy treatments for nose cancer, which he was diagnosed with about 10 years ago.

Henry said his father’s health began deteriorating since April, due to his age.

Dawos leaves behind his wife, Datin Sri Christine Dawung Narub, three sons and seven grandchildren.

The four-term Puncak Borneo MP was appointed as Tourism Deputy Minister on Dec 14, 2009, before being appointed as Natural Resources and Environment Deputy Minister after his victory in the 13th General Election on May 16, 2013.
