KUCHING: Dayak leaders welcome the RM41 million allocation in Budget 2021 for the Native Customary Rights (NCR) land programme in Sabah and Sarawak.

Most of them opined that with this additional allocation, the survey of more NCR lands could be expedited and implemented smoothly.

Here is what Sarawak Dayak leaders have shared on the specific fund allocated for NCR lands.

“We appreciate the assistance from the Federal government with regards to our NCR land development. On the other hand, Sarawak government will continue the efforts and programmes to develop our NCR to ensure it will enhance the income of the rural people.”

“This additional budget will expedite the survey process as the government can engage private surveyors to survey the vast areas of NCR land. In Bau alone, there are still big areas to survey especially Bidayuh areas.”

“It is a welcoming boost for the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government’s NCR land survey programme. There are many that have been gazetted as Communal Reserve and such funds can be use to conduct survey under Section 18 for individual titles.”

“This is a very important allocation which will benefit the NCR landowners. With this additional allocation, it can speed up the survey of NCR land in Sarawak.”
