KUCHING: In an effort to propel the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) into a world-class civil service, the commission has taken to the airwaves through Radio Kuching Utara (radioKU).

As such, history has been created for being the first local authority in the state to have its own online radio broadcasting application.

DBKU is also the second local authority to implement such an approach after Ipoh City Council which started last year.

DBKU mayor Datuk Abang Abdul Wahab Abang Julai said the radio aimed to serve as a medium of communication between both community and the local authority.

According to him, this was also part of DBKU’s strategy in providing the best services to city dwellers.

“With its tagline ‘Kusss…Semangat’ (grateful), listeners can access directly via DBKU’s official website at https://dbku.sarawak.gov.my or download the application on Google Play.

“The official launching of radioKU is expected to be graced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on Mac 27 in conjunction with the Old Kuching Smart Heritage Agenda at Kuching Waterfront,” he told a press conference after officiating the soft launching of radioKU at its headquarters here yesterday.
