KUCHING: Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) was told to work closely with other government agencies to ensure that the city can be developed efficiently.

It is important that every DBKU planning, especially the development of public facilities is implemented smoothly, said Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and DBKU) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

“We (DBKU) always strive to ensure that every Sarawak government plan, especially involving urban development can be implemented well and runs smoothly,” he said when officiating at the workshop here today.

Abdul Rahman, who is also Assistant Minister of Utilities (Water Supply), said to implement each development programme, cooperation between agencies was very important to avoid problems or duplication of responsibilities.

“Working on your own is an old concept. Now we need to always work together including land ownership to build public facilities.

“This process needs to be implemented smoothly to avoid conflicts that could harm the community,” he said.

He added that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg always put emphasis on the aspect of efficient urban development to ensure that Sarawak could achieve a developed state status by 2030.

“We want the people of this state to live happier with the provided public facilities,” he said.

Also present were DBKU Mayor Datuk Junaidi Reduan and DBKU director Dr Morshidi Ahmad.
