Deceased, 37, found lying face down

PADAWAN: A foul stench coming from a rented room on the third floor of a shophouse in Batu Kawa, has unravelled after authorities discovered the body of a man last Wednesday (Aug 17).

The incident came to light around 6.30pm when a female tenant smelled something foul coming from the room.

She later went to check the room and discovered the deceased was lying face down before alerting the police.

Padawan OCPD Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the deceased was identified as Mohd Herry Abdullah, 37, from Kampung Sudoh Singai, Bau.

“Based on the body’s state of decomposition, paramedics believed that the deceased died on Sunday (Aug 14).

“According to the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage installed at the rental premises, the deceased was last seen entering the room around 10pm on Aug 13,” he said.

Police examinations found no signs of foul play, and no weapon or sharp objects at the scene.

The body has since been taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for a post-mortem.
