SARIKEI: A decomposed body, missing its lower part, was discovered in a river near Feri Sungai Sian here yesterday (Feb 16).
Meradong OCPD DSP Sekam Anoi said the police were alerted to the discovery by a worker at Feri Sungai Sian at 10am.
“The police promptly went to the scene to retrieve the body for further investigation,” he said in a statement today (Feb 17).
Sekam added that the investigation found that there was a missing person report in Sibu, and the complainant was called upon for body identification.
“However, identification was unsuccessful due to the body’s decomposition and bloating. The team only took simple DNA samples to ascertain the body’s identity,” he said.
Sekam also advised the public not to speculate on the case.
