KUCHING: The diversity of ethnicities in Sarawak is the uniqueness that ought to be defended, said Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.
Hazland said such uniqueness as shown during the Gawai Dayak festival by the Dayak communities and Hari Raya Aidilfitri by the Malay community, which are being celebrated almost simultaneously this year should be upheld.
This uniqueness, he said is important in ensuring that Sarawakians can live peacefully and prosper together under the present state government.
“The state government is committed to continue implementing development agenda for the state’s prosperity and for racial unity, which is an important factor in that direction,” said Hazland in his Hari Raya message.
In Demak Laut, he said the government will continue with the socio-economic development to continue improving the people’s livelihood and uplifting their economic standards.
“This is what the government expects from the rakyat and this is also what the state government wants to do for the rakyat so that together we can develop Sarawak and its people, especially in Demak Laut,” he added.
