KUCHING: The upgrading works of the drainage system at Kampung Temedak is scheduled for completion in a month’s time after experiencing various delays.

Assistant Minister of Utilities (Water Supply) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the project has been on-going for the past six months but was delayed due to the implementation of the movement control order (MCO).

“This project is needed in this village to overcome flash floods that often occur during the monsoon season.

“In addition to that, they (the village) only depend on soil drains for their drainage system,” he added during his visit to the drainage project in Kampung Temedak with the Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID) yesterday (June 28).

Abdul Rahman added that the drainage system in the village is upgraded through the Projek Rakyat fund.

According to him, the cost of the project amounts to RM425,000 which involves four components with a more systematic drainage system.
