SIBU: The National Registration Department (NRD) MEKAR Unit will visit Liana Sari Santud’s family residence soon.

In a statement today, NRD said that it was to provide advisory services regarding the eligibility criteria under the applicable laws and regulations for her to apply and obtain identification documents.

“Based on the investigation conducted by us, it was found that Liana has a birth certificate with a citizenship status of undetermined because her parents did not have any identification documents at the time of her birth.

“Her mother had applied for a Temporary Resident Identity Card (MyKAS), and the application has recently been approved.

“However, NRD records indicate that Liana has not submitted any official identification card application to us,” said the statement, responding to a video that went viral on social media.

Liana expressed her concerns about not having an identification card and the potential difficulties it may pose for her higher education aspirations.

The department said that upon receiving Liana’s application after their meeting, they would process and consider the decision.

“We would like to advise the public who have any doubts or confusion regarding our services to visit any of our offices, including the 51 NRD offices in the state, to seek clarification and advisory services,” the statement added.
